Tradición enraizada y formada a finales de los años 90 a través del Black Metal atmosférico y misantrópico que la banda italiana acogió en 2005. Ellos son la banda que mantiene un aura de misterio. Ellos son Adversam.
ADVERSAM :EL BALUARTE DEL BLACK METAL ITALIANO
Su álbum debut "Animadverte" en 1999 se convirtió en el pilar del underground italiano, siempre manteniendo ese perfil bajo que a día de hoy sostienen. Destacaron por esa velocidad y agresividad recordando a los primeros Dark Funeral pero mucho mas complejos. Pero ellos aportaban algo distinto, teclados góticos buscando elegancia con letras centradas en el existencialismo oscuro y la confrontación espiritual.
Tras numerosos cambios internos, la banda mutó hacia sonidos más profundos y en 2007, publicaban "Proclama" con un sonido quizá menos enfocado hacia la rapidez y si más hacia estructuras progresivas alejándose y explorando una "oscuridad filosófica". Fue aclamado por la critica, pero este fascinante camino que emprendían, no fue del todo entendido ni comprendido por algunos de los fans que esperaban una continuación de su primer álbum. Aquí es donde se convierten en una banda de culto, apostando por la "calidad frente a la cantidad".
La transformación hacia esa oscuridad intelectual llegó con el álbum de 2015 llamado "Insight" lanzado a través de Punischment 18 Records. Fue un punto de inflexión que acabó por convertirles en la entidad que es ahora de sonidos Black Metal atmosféricos vanguardistas. Un álbum valiente que sacrificó las melodías insinuantes por las atmosféricas. Su portada de hecho, sugiere una apertura hacia el cambio interior y una apertura hacia una nueva era.
REGRESO DE UNA BANDA DE CULTO
Tras 11 años de silencio, regresan los de Turín con un álbum exquisito en todos los sentidos llamado "Daimon" ,inspirado en las reflexiones de Carl Gustav Jung )(medico suizo y figura clave en los inicios del psicoanálisis) y en las instituciones del místico italiano Gustavo Adolfo Rol (dotado de "numerosos poderes paranormales" que definía como "posibilidades"). El Daimon, investiga la naturaleza oscura de la humanidad y el potencial de la conciencia.Un viaje a través de los rincones más profundos de la mente, cuestionando la esencia misma del mal. Cada miembro de la banda aporta influencias distintas trabajando con un enfoque atemporal.
Una banda que prefiere un equilibrio entre la crudeza tradicional y la producción sin seguir modas y en la que se aprecie los matices de su música."Fall Of illusions" te hace viajar y descender a esa época de finales de los 90 con una pieza imprescindible como son los teclados. A cargo de dicho instrumento se encuentra Essyllt, la encargada de crear esa sensación de "caída" y desorientación que oscila entre lo gótico y puramente atmosférico.
Los mejores temas "Insignificance Of Evil" funciona casi como un espejo nihilista. El mal es insignificante. El mal es simplemente una parte trivial de nuestra existencia. Silencio, se escucha la conexión en un plano superior en "The Silent Alignement" donde hay un frio gélido, una tristeza latente, que se arrastra a través de riffs en el lado mas sinfónico y gótico. Voces agónicas por parte de Katharos que se contrarrestan con el protagonismo del teclado utilizando sonidos envolventes y fúnebres. Dos temas que hay que escuchar sintiendo esa parte abrumadora pero fascinante.
En un viaje a lo largo de sombras, de oscuridad, el tema "Abstract Salvation" es el equilibrio es perfecto, la herencia técnica de aquellos años 90 bajo un oleo sonoro de trazos violentos, y aquí, es donde la banda se vuelve aun más abismal desembocando en el ultimo tema y guiándonos con esa fuerza interna post apocalíptica en "The Collapse Within" en un contraste de sonidos y emociones, donde la melodía se vuelve casi hipnótica y la voz de Katharos se vuelve atormentada.
En un mundo caótico, Adversam nos ofrece observar en la más absoluta penumbra. Exquisito álbum.

A tradition rooted in and shaped by the atmospheric and misanthropic black metal that the Italian band embraced in the late 1990s. They are the band that maintains an aura of mystery. They are Adversam.
ADVERSAM: THE BASTION OF ITALIAN BLACK METAL
Most of the members were no strangers to the scene when they joined the band. They met while playing in other Death and Black Metal bands in the Piedmont They stood out for their icy Black Metal sounds with fascinating Gothic undertones.
Their 1999 debut album “Animadverte” became a cornerstone of the Italian underground, while they consistently maintained the low-key profile they still uphold today. They stood out for their speed and aggression, reminiscent of early Dark Funeral but far more complex. Yet they brought something distinct: gothic keyboards seeking elegance, paired with lyrics centered on dark existentialism and spiritual confrontation.
After numerous internal changes, the band shifted toward more complex sounds, and in 2007 they released “Proclama,” an album with a sound that was perhaps less focused on speed and more on progressive structures, moving away from and exploring a “philosophical darkness.” It was critically acclaimed, but this fascinating path they were embarking on was not fully understood by some fans who were expecting a continuation of their first album. This is where they became a cult band, prioritizing “quality over quantity.”
The transformation toward that intellectual darkness came with the 2015 album “Insight,” released via Punishment 18 Records. It was a turning point that ultimately shaped them into the entity they are today, characterized by avant-garde atmospheric black metal. A bold album that sacrificed suggestive melodies for atmospheric ones. Its cover, in fact, suggests an opening toward an inner shift of the mind and an opening toward a new era.
THE RETURN OF A CULT BAND
After 11 years of silence, the Turin-based band returns with an exquisite album in every sense called “Daimon,” inspired by the reflections of Carl Gustav Jung (a Swiss physician and key figure in the early days of psychoanalysis) and the teachings of the Italian mystic Gustavo Adolfo Rol (endowed with “numerous paranormal powers” that he defined as “possibilities”). “Daimon” explores the dark nature of humanity and the potential of consciousness—a journey through the deepest corners of the mind, questioning the very essence of evil. Each band member brings distinct influences, working with a timeless approach.
A band that prefers a balance between traditional rawness and production, without following trends, and in which the nuances of their music can be appreciated. “Fall Of Illusions” takes you on a journey back to the late ’90s with an essential element: keyboards. At the helm of this instrument is Essyllt, responsible for creating that sense of “fall” and disorientation that oscillates between the gothic and the purely atmospheric.
The pillars of the decline of values, religions, or mental constructs are explored in the track “Pillars Of Decay” through a descent into a sonic abyss. It is a song about purification through chaos, where the band explores its most experimental side.
The standout tracks: “Insignificance Of Evil” functions almost as a nihilistic mirror. Evil is insignificant. Evil is simply a trivial part of our existence. Silence—the connection to a higher plane is heard in “The Silent Alignment,” where there is an icy coldness, a latent sadness, that creeps through riffs on the more symphonic and gothic side. Katharos’s agonized vocals are counterbalanced by the keyboard’s prominence, utilizing enveloping and funereal sounds. Two tracks that must be listened to while feeling that overwhelming yet fascinating aspect.
On a journey through shadows and darkness, the track “Abstract Salvation” strikes the perfect balance, blending the technical legacy of the early ’90s with a sonic canvas of violent strokes, and here is where the band becomes even more abysmal, leading into the final track and guiding us with that post-apocalyptic inner force in “The Collapse Within” through a contrast of sounds and emotions, where the melody becomes almost hypnotic and Katharos’s voice turns tormented.
In this chaotic world, Adversam invites us to observe in the deepest gloom. An exquisite album.
