Considerados como los abanderados del "Cold School Death Metal", la banda texana Frozen Soul publica su tercer y bestial album colaborativo, manteniendo sus sonidos pesados inspirados en leyendas como los británicos ya disueltos Bolt Thrower.

Century Media Records cazó a la banda estadounidense en 2021 y debutaron con el álbum "Crypt Of Ice" consolidándoles como uno de los nombres más destacados del movimiento (OSDM) Con un sonido denso y fuertemente influenciados por bandas como Obituar,. consiguieron un LP limpio pero agresivo con letras y estética que giraban en torno al frio extremo, al invierno eterno y al aislamiento, abriéndoles las puertas para girar junto a los grandes Napalm Death y Dying Fetus

Dos años despues deslumbraban con su segundo album "Glacial Domination" co producido y apadrinados por Matthew K Heafy ,el vocalista y guitarrista de Trivium,  el cual les descubrió a través de las RRSS y participó en dos temas del álbum, sacando a la banda en el tema "Abominable" de su zona de confort por esos riffs hiper veloces Manteniendo ese sonido gelido compartieron colaboraciones con la realeza del death metal en algunos de los 10 singles del LP con Dying Fetus, Creeping Death y Power Trip. Disco inspirado en el cine de terror de John Carpenter. El vocalista Chad Green confesó que el tema "Glaciar Domination" y "Annihilation" están basados conceptualmente en la mítica película de ciencia ficción de The Thing explorando la paranoia y el frio extremo.

Sonidos aplastantes, nítidos y pesados incluyendo el hardcore y el slam death metal ("Absolute Zero") estallaron en su ultimo y esperadisimo album "No Place Of Warmth" donde el death metal cavernoso y gélido te engulle por completo.

Un álbum con colaboraciones inesperadas como la de Gerard Way, amigo de la banda .El vocalista de My Chemical Romance, es un absoluto enfermo del black y del  death metal , ya comenté en su momento la simbiosis tan exquisita entre Matt Heafy y Gerard en el álbum de 2022 de Hibaraki "Rashomon"  y ahora, comparte  Black Metal en el tema homónimo y principal en el que los agudos contrastan de forma espectacular con los guturales profundos de Chad Green.

LAS CHARLAS CON ROB FLYNN

Quizá la anécdota más surrealista y un sueño, fue la que contaba el propio  Chad Green en una entrevista, se pasaba las noches hablando por teléfono con Rob, el mismo Rob Flynn quien le quien cautivo para compartir un tema "Invoke War" siendo Frozen Soul fanáticos de Machine Head.  temazo.

Y no sólo Gerard Way y Rob Flynn, dieron esa energía especial al álbum, hay una coloración o hermandad junto al vocalista Devin Swank de Sanguisugabogg con un registro totalmente pesado. Ambas bandas formaron parte de un resurgir underground donde el elemento clave del groove. Ellos  tienen una regla de oro estricta: sino es divertido, no se hace, y bajo esta premisa su tercer album se comvierte en demoledor. El album llego a ser hielo bajo la produccion de Josh Schroeder (conocido por trabajar con Lorna Shore) y quiso que sonara gigante pero al mismo tiempo helador, y lo consiguió.

Considered the standard-bearers of 'Cold School Death Metal,' the Texan band Frozen Soul releases their third and brutal collaborative album, maintaining their heavy sounds inspired by legends like the now-defunct British band Bolt Thrower.

Century Media Records signed the American band in 2021, and they debuted with the album 'Crypt Of Ice,' establishing them as one of the most prominent names in the (OSDM) movement. With a dense sound and strong influences from bands like Obituary, they achieved a clean but aggressive LP with lyrics and aesthetics centered around extreme cold, eternal winter, and isolation, opening doors for them to tour alongside the greats Napalm Death and Dying Fetus.

Two years later they dazzled with their second album "Glacial Domination" co-produced and mentored by Matthew K Heafy, the vocalist and guitarist of Trivium, who discovered them through social media and participated in two tracks of the album, pushing the band out of their comfort zone on the track "Abominable" with those hyper-fast riffs. Maintaining that icy sound, they shared collaborations with the royalty of death metal on some of the 10 singles of the LP with Dying Fetus, Creeping Death, and Power Trip. The album was inspired by John Carpenter's horror films. Vocalist Chad Green confessed that the tracks "Glacial Domination" and "Annihilation" are conceptually based on the legendary science fiction film The Thing, exploring paranoia and extreme cold.

Crushing, sharp, and heavy sounds including hardcore and slam death metal ("Absolute Zero") exploded in their latest and long-awaited album "No Place Of Warmth" where the cavernous and icy death metal completely engulfs you. An album with unexpected collaborations like that of Gerard Way, a friend of the band. The vocalist of My Chemical Romance is an absolute madman of black and death metal; I already commented at the time on the exquisite symbiosis between Matt Heafy and Gerard in Hibaraki's 2022 album "Rashomon," and now he shares Black Metal on the self-titled and main track in which the highs contrast spectacularly with Chad Green's deep gutturals.

TALKS WITH ROB FLYNN

Perhaps the most surreal anecdote and a dream was the one that Chad Green himself recounted in an interview; he spent nights talking on the phone with Rob, the very Rob Flynn who captivated him to share a song "Invoke War" since Frozen Soul were fans of Machine Head. Great track.

And not only did Gerard Way and Rob Flynn give that special energy to the album, there is a coloration or brotherhood alongside the vocalist Devin Swank of Sanguisugabogg with a completely heavy register. Both bands were part of an underground resurgence where the key element was the groove. They have a strict golden rule: if it’s not fun, it’s not done, and under this premise, their third album becomes devastating. The album ended up being ice under the production of Josh Schroeder (known for working with Lorna Shore) and he wanted it to sound gigantic but at the same time chilling, and he achieved it.
